The concert will feature songs and entertainment from more than 20 popular hilltribe singers from seven ethnic groups - the Karen, Hmong, Mien, Akha, Lisu, Tai Yai and Lahu.
This gathering of different cultures and languages underlines Unesco's mandate to promote cultural diversity and protect indigenous and minority cultures.
More than 5,000 highland and lowland minority people are expected to attend.
Besides the stage performances, the event will raise awareness on issues of importance to minority groups, including citizenship, HIV/Aids and human trafficking.
The concert coincides with the Chiang Food Festival at Kard Cheng Doi marketplace - which is at the foot of Suthep Mountain. Admission is free.
