William Cohan’s “The Last Tycoons” has won the 2007 Financial Times and
Goldman Sachs Business Book of the Year Award, the Financial Times
announced yesterday (Oct 25).
The FT describes the book as a “vivid” account of the tumultuous
evolution of Lazard, the investment bank. Alan Greenspan’s “The Age of
Turbulence”, much touted earlier as the likely winner, failed to grab
the award. Cohan’s book presents a history of the “the world’s most
elite and enigmatic investment bank”. The award comes with the cash
prize of £30,000.
