Indian visas outsourced to save time

To make the procedure of issuing visas efficient, the Indian Embassy in Bangkok is outsourcing the job to VFS (Thailand) Ltd from today.

Under this arrangement, Thais and resident expatriates can collect their visa the day after application.

From today, visa applications can be made at the India Visa Application Centre in the Glas Haus Building on Sukhumvit Soi 25. Call (02) 665 2968, fax (02) 260 5829 or visit www.ivac-th.com for details.

Applications can be submitted from Monday to Friday, between 8.30pm and 3pm, and can be collected the next day between 3 and 4.30pm. Applicants will be charged a processing fee of Bt450++ in addition to the visa fees. Monks, however, will be exempt from both fees.

These new arrangements are not applicable to holders of diplomatic or official passports or UN Laissez Passer. People with these documents can still apply directly at the embassy between 9am and 11pm on all working days.
