King is more mobile

Sarkozy sends get-well message; HM sees faithful are properly fed

HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej is now able to stand for a longer period with the help of a walker, according to the latest statement from the Royal Household Bureau.

The statement said His Majesty's body temperature had come down to normal.

It said inflammation in His Majesty's large intestine was improving while pain in his right waist was reduced.

"His Majesty can move more comfortably," the statement added.

His Majesty has been receiving treatment at Siriraj Hospital since October 13.

On behalf of all French citizens, French President Nicolas Sarkozy has sent a get-well message to wish His Majesty a quick recovery. The message was dated October 16.

Ambassadors of various countries also visited the Siriraj Hospital in Bangkok to sign their wishes for the Thai monarch.

Upon his arrival at the hospital, Iranian Ambassador to Thailand Mohsen Pakaein presented a vase of flowers to His Majesty and signed a "get-well" message.

"He is a great king," Pakaein said, adding he was delighted to have been informed that

His Majesty's condition was improving.

His Majesty will turn 80 on December 5. 

Since his admission to the hospital, more than 100,000 people have showed up to wish their beloved king a quick recovery.

In addition, hundreds of well-wishers have camped at the hospital to express their moral support.

Among the crowd were people praying for His Majesty's good health as some groups also sang songs in his honour.

Privy Council president Prem Tinsulanonda visited His Majesty for about one hour in the morning. Prem later came out to greet His Majesty's well-wishers.

Entertainment celebrities also continued to flock to the Siriraj Hospital to express their best wishes to His Majesty.

Tennis star Paradorn Srichaphan and his fiancee former Miss Universe Natalie Glebova were among those to show up yesterday.

Under the auspices of HM Queen Sirikit, the well-wishers were provided with free food.

"Her Majesty has tasted all the food and has emphasised that there must be enough protein for each meal," Thanpu-ying Oranuch Isarangkul na Ayudhaya said yesterday as she brought the food to the hospital. She is a lady-in-waiting to Her Majesty. 

She said Her Majesty had provided rice, boiled eggs and salted vegetable for breakfast yesterday.

For  lunch, the people were served rice with sweet stewed eggs and fried chicken, as well as Thai rice noodle with green curry.

Many businesses and people also gave away food to the well - wishers at the hospital.

Ekasit Ua-uppatham, owner of the Starlight Corporation, came to the hospital not only with his best wishes for His Majesty but also some 30,000 photos of His Majesty that he gave to other loyal subjects for free.

In the afternoon, a number of novice monks and monks came to the hospital to pray for His Majesty's health.

Brahmin priests also came to sign get-well messages for His Majesty.
