The activity was attended by "greenistas" dressed smartly in green attire reinforcing the already green atmosphere and decoration in Motion Hall. Green living corners decorated by celebrities were also presented.
Dr Thon Thamrongnawasawat, Pantipsuda Posayanonth, Miss Thailand 2006 Lalana Kongtoranin and Ditawat Issara were joined by youngsters from International School of Bangkok Phantila Phataraprasit, 14, Phiravit Phataraprasit, 12, and Tiffany Vanichviroon, 14, in offering tips on how to reduce global warming.
Dr Thon, a marine biologist with Kasetsart University's Marine Science Faculty, explained that we should avoid putting flower vases and fish bowls in air-conditioned rooms as the water in those containers intensifies humidity and makes the aircon work harder.
Proper time allocation within the family is also advised with children doing their homework while father reads through his papers in the same air-conditioned room rather than splitting into different spaces and burning more energy. Cleaning aircon units once a month is also advised.
Pantipsuda, editor in chief of Her World magazine revealed "Women can do many things to improve the situation. For example, always use a soft cloth to wipe cleanser from your face rather than tissues or cotton wool. Using refillable cosmetic package is another way of reducing plastic waste and try to avoid moisturisers that use chemicals and opt for those that are plant- or fruit-based."
Ditawat, creative director of Charn Issara Development PCL, promoted the use of public transportation and recommended leaving the car at home, switch off the lights and the air conditioner and rejecting plastic bags in favour of cloth or canvas totes.
The three students concluded that children could take action by reducing the purchase of plastic products and walking or biking to places that aren't too far away, as well as take stairs rather than use the elevator.
