Reginald Evans, regional sales director for Southeast Asia-Pacific of CommScope, said the region is a strong potential market, especially China, Indonesia and India.

He added that Thailand is a developing market and the firm expected to grow 30 per cent year by year. The market focus is on banking, financial, security and multinational companies that are expanding their business bases and investing in Thailand.

The firm plans to sell data centre and intelligent building products through 12 business partners and distributors in Thailand. It is also working with the Cisco Technology Development Programme.

"Thailand is a developing market. It has the opportunity to grow in the future since many foreign companies are investing in the country. Therefore, it is an opportunity as they will invest in IT infrastructure and technology for their businesses," said Evans.

Mark Peterson, senior vice president, global enterprise marketing and strategy for the company, said that in the Asia-Pacific market the firm plans to sell data centre, infrastructure, intelligent building and industry automation products which are based on IP technology which is able to control system infrastructure on networks.

AMI Partners has reported that the global structured cabling market in 2010 will reach US$1.5 billion (Bt51 billion), coming mainly from the data-centre market worth around $500 million with a growth rate of around 32.8 per cent. Meanwhile, Forrester Research reported that there are now 300 million devices connected to the Internet and 14 billion devices will be connected by 2010.
