In an interview broadcast Saturday, Surayud said Prasong had asked him to "do something" against his moral beliefs while he was Army commander-in-chief.
Prasong said Surayud must be specific as to what he was talking about.
"This kind of speaking was an attempt to discredit others while making oneself look good," Prasong said.
He said he was seeking a debate against the government because he was performing his duty as an NLA member after seeing the government had carried out several mistakes.
He attacked Surayud as being a hypocrite regarding the coup.
"One should not pretend to be a democratic soldier who abhors coup but once the coup maker he shamelessly took the post of prime minister," Prasong said.
