Prasong strikes back, criticising PM of lacking maturity

Chief constitution writer Prasong brands PM as being double standard.

Chief Constitution writer Prasong Soonsiri criticised the prime minister on Monday of lacking "maturity," for hinting in an interview that Prasong asked him to do something against his moral beliefs while he was Army commander-in-chief.

"Prime Minister Surayud [Chulanont] just wanted to put blame on others for his own benefits. His interview that I asked him to do something when he was army commander in chief showed that he lacked of maturity," Prasong said.

Prasong, the National Legislative Assembly member who led the Constitution Drafting Committee, said Surayud should clarify what he meant.

In a government-sponsored interview on Saturday, Surayud implied that Prasong who led the move to grill his government in the National Assembly may do this as he refused to do what Prasong asked when he was the army chief.

Prasong linked on Monday what he called Surayud's attempt to discredit him to the NLA's move to grill the government's performance in the National Assembly.

"We do not ask for the censure debate to create chaos in the country, but we just want to do what the taxpayers pay us to do," he said.

Prasong also criticises Surayud of being double standard for portraying himself as an anti-coup officer but agreeing to accept the position the coup makers gave him.
