Spider Man 3

The Story: Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) has finally managed to strike a balance between his devotion to MJ (Kirsten Dunst) and his duties as a superhero.

Published on October 6, 2007

But when his suit is infected with a gloopy alien life form, turning jet-black and enhancing his powers, it transforms Peter as well, bringing out the dark, vengeful side of his personality that he is struggling to control. Forced to choose between the seductive power of the new suit and the compassionate hero he used to be, Peter must overcome his personal demons as two of his most-feared adversaries yet, Sandman (Thomas Haden Church) and Venom (Topher Grace), gather unparalleled power and a thirst for retribution.

The Disc: Two versions of the blockbuster franchise have been released. The one-disc super-saver package comes with commentaries by director and cast, and trailer, and costs Bt299. It's in the shops for between Bt220 and Bt260.

The two-disc version has two Easter Eggs - the Blooper Reel and the Grant Curtis ADR session - plus a wealth of special-effects featurettes, among them "Grains of Sand - Building Sandman" and "Covered in Black - Creating Venom".

Action fans will love the stunt work featured in "Hanging On...Gwen Stacy & the Collapsing Floor" and "Fighting, Flying & Driving". The two-disc set has a cover price of Bt499 and it's selling for between Bt360 and Bt420.

Dororo

The Story: Based on the TV animation of the same name, the story portrays Hyakkimaru (Satoshi Tsumabuki), a young man with supernatural powers who was born without 48 body parts after they were filched from him in a prenatal deal his samurai dad (Kiichi Nakai) made with the Majin (demon gods).

Upon reaching adulthood, Hyakkimaru (Kou Shibasaki) embarks on a journey to vanquish the 48 Majins and reclaim his body parts. He is soon joined by Dororo, a precocious street urchin and self-styled "greatest thief in all of Japan".

The Disc: J-Bics have apparently resolved problems with early copies of this release, which suffered from fuzzy pictures, and this latest version is good value for its cover price of Bt359. Special features include Behind the Scenes, Interview, Photo Gallery and Trailer. The DVD is retailing for between Bt200 and Bt320.
