Suwit's party registered

The Election Commission has approved registration of the "For the Motherland" Party.

Party leader Suwit Khunkitti said yesterday the party would not take sides or ally with particular parties, as people must be fed up with such politics.

"Our party doesn't connect with anybody. We have no electorate, no enemies. People are fed up with taking sides and quarrelling," Suwit said.

He spoke as he received documents from the EC. Vachara Phanchet, Kwang Robkorb and Man Pattanothai accompanied him.

He said the party had no big donors sponsoring it. However, it would push decentralisation policies and continue populist projects such as the Small-Medium-Large Villages Fund and Village Funds.

The party would recruit at least 5,000 members as required by the law and would field both party-list and constituency MP candidates.
