Buses threaten a strike on Oct 9

Private bus operators on Thursday staged a protest against the Transport Ministry's refusal to allow them to raise fares amid the renewed spike in diesel oil prices.

The protest ended when the ministry agreed to consider their proposal at the October 9 meeting.

They threatened that a number of 6,000 public buses would stop service if the ministry still turns down the proposed fare increase at the meeting on October 9.

They asked for the increase of Bt2, on top of existing Bt8.
