DOMESTIC CONSUMPTION CONTINUES TO SLOW DOWN

Domestic Consumption continues to slow

Domestic consumption will continue to be slowdown in the fourth quarter of this year due to unstable political situation and consumers' low confidence about the election in December, according to the Centre for Economic and Business Forecasting (CEBF).

Director Thanavath Phonvichai said on Thursday that its survey showed that most consumers would not spend as much as they did in the last quarter in previous years because they had no confidence about the country's politics.

Moreover, many operators seem to raise their products' prices, resulted from rising of oil price and raw material, in the last three months.

However, he believed that domestic consumption would be picked up in the first quarter of next year after the general election is completed and the new government is formed.
