Deputy Government Spokesman Chodechai Suwannaporn said the board of each enterprise would decide the rate for its agency.

The Cabinet decided that the Finance Ministry should in future be responsible for policy on state-enterprise workers' pay.

It also approved a temporary cut in import duty for natural gas-fuelled public vans, to encourage operators of diesel-powered vans to switch fuels.

Pannee Sathavarodom, director-general of the Fiscal Policy Office, said vans with at least 15 seats were eligible. The rate for completely built vehicles will be cut from 40 per cent to 22 per cent until the end of next year. Locally assembled vans will be exempted from duty until the end of 2012.
