In his new role, Thanwa will report to Ong Hoon Meng, General Manager, IBM ASEAN.  Hoon Meng said, "Appointing a strong leader is critical to our ability to tap Thailand's vast growth potential and the opportunities it offers for collaborative innovation.  Thanwa's experience, passion and discipline, combined with his strategic thinking and dedication to client success, make him the right leader for IBM Thailand.  Suphajee has done an impressive job, leading IBM Thailand to achieve its business objectives and pave the way to strong future growth.  It is now Thanwa's role to build on this success in IBM Thailand and take it to the next level."

Thanwa said, "I am honoured and excited to lead IBM Thailand in this chapter of its rich and deep history.  Our focus is squarely on our clients, as we help them innovate to succeed."

Thanwa Laohasiriwong is currently Country Manager, Systems & Technology Group, IBM Thailand, a role he assumed in March 2007.  According to IDC, IBM was the overall server leader in Thailand in 2Q 2007.  Over his 18 years in IBM, Thanwa has served in a variety of leadership roles in client coverage, marketing, sales operations, finance, administration and other strategic areas in both country and regional capacities.  Two international assignments have provided him the benefit of working across cultures and gained him deeper customer client insights.

Hoon Meng added, "Both these new appointments reflect the wealth of talent that we've built in IBM Thailand over the years.  Thanwa and Suphajee are assuming responsibilities of great importance to IBM's business growth in ASEAN."

During Suphajee's tenure of four and a half years, she advanced IBM Thailand's industry leadership by maintaining a keen focus on strategy and execution and a company-wide commitment to delivering client value to enterprises of all sizes.  During this time, IBM Thailand forged strong collaborative relationships with government agencies and top local universities in the areas of national innovation and Service Science, Management and Engineering (SSME).

IBM gained increased recognition as an employer of choice in Thailand, after being named "most desirable company to work for" by e-Commerce magazine in 2006 and one of top ten best companies in Thailand by Positioning Magazine in 2007.

As part of today's announcement, Thanwa assumes responsibility for all of IBM's operations in Thailand, including the company's sales and distribution, technology, services and global financing divisions and fully-owned subsidiary IBM Solutions Delivery.
