According to a source from the bank's court of directors, Suchada Kirakul, assistant governor in charge of the Monetary Policy Group, has been appointed to replace Nitaya Pibulratanagit, assistant governor for the Financial Markets Operations Group.

Nitaya will be promoted to deputy governor for Corporate Support Services.

These new faces at the top will face tough challenges in dealing with volatile capital movements.

The baht has come under intense pressure and needs efficient management by the authorities to stabilise it.

In other moves, Sorasit Soontorhkes, a senior director of the Financial Institutions Monitoring and Analysis Department in the Supervision Group, has been promoted to assistant governor.

He has decades of experience in this area.

His successor is Pong-adul Kristnaraj, who was in charge of financial-institution supervision before taking up a senior director post at the Southern Region Office.

Niruth Raksaseree, a director of the Security Department, replaces Pong-adul.

Nopporn Pramojaney, a senior director of the Note Printing Works, rises to assistant governor in charge of the Banknote Management Group, replacing retiree Yodchai Choosri.

Sayan Pariwat, a senior director of Payment Systems Department, will fill the vacant post of assistant governor of the Operations Group.
