That is the good news. The bad news is there are not many great DVD discs for that particular purpose. Here are few that are worth having, especially to accompany you when you are looking for new audio and video equipment.
"Coral Reef Adventure" is a great documentary DVD in both DTS and Dolby Digital format that was earlier released to Imax theatres. It is directed by veteran Imax film-maker Greg MacGillivray, whose documentary films have seen him twice nominated for an Oscar.
The DVD features fantastic soundtracks and full multichannel sound. Embarking on an expedition through Fiji, where some of the planet's most fascinating landscapes and creatures exist, the explorers examine the declining reefs and failing health of the ocean. Diving expeditions show flourishing coral reefs, with their unusual and exotic inhabitants, as well as vast expanses of bleached coral, in decline. Along their journey, the film-makers meet scientists who are working to understand the problems of the reefs.
"Coral Reef Adventure" is a two-disc DVD set featuring high definition vision in WMV format and full surround sound on a single DVD-ROM, with a 30-minute behind-the-scenes feature. The images and sound are perfect for testing audio and video equipment. It is a must-have and must-see DVD if you are a movie-goer or video enthusiast.
Also, discover the soulful sounds of Ben E King as he performs the smash hits that made him a soul legend in the 1960s. "Ben E King in Concert" (zones 1 and 3, Dolby Digital and DTS surround format) features the best of King singing the unforgettable songs of 40 years ago. Two of them, "Under the Boardwalk" and "Stand By Me", are great old classics.
Thanks to film director Steven Spielberg, Ben E King's "Stand by Me" became a hit once more when it was used as theme music in Spielberg's film of the same name in 1986. King's music perfectly captures the atmosphere of the 1960s. In his DVD concert, the version of "Stand By Me" seems to lose weight, as well as some vocal high tones. However, the DVD comes with good multichannel sound in DTS and Dolby Digital formats. I believe DTS is slightly better than Dolby Digital.
"Ben E King in Concert" also comes at a friendly price,
so you might not want to miss it.
