The world is keeping a close watch on ongoing peaceful rallies by Burma's Buddhist monks who have formed the largest crowd of demonstrators in Burma since the 1988 prodemocracy uprising.
On Sunday, a protest march was launched from the Shwedagon Pagoda, the country's most sacred shrine. The gathering was joined by nearly 30,000 monks and nuns as well as civilian protesters.
