IHG to launch the first budget hotel brand in Bangkok

International Hotels Group (IHG) plans to bring its new budget hotel brand, Express by Holiday Inn, into Thailand by the end of this year, set to compete with Ibis brand of Accor

The group's area director of sales and marketing Thailand market, Bruce Ryde, said the group would introduce the first budget hotel in Bangkok. But he asked not to disclose the location and number of properties to be added.

"We are negotiating with many investors in Thailand for brining in our new brand Express by Holiday Inn," said Ryde.

So far, the group expected to open more than one hotel in the capital.

The Express brand will be competing directly with Ibis, a budget brand of Accor Group, which introduced to Thailand earlier.

Ryde added tourism in Thailand would grow gradually and expected to significant boom after general election, which set to be held late this year.
