Court sentences a man to 25 year in jail for killing his colleague

The Criminal Court also ordered Prasert Banphachart to pay Bt990,000 plus 7.5 per cent of interest to the father of his murder victim Phichai Thongbai. 

The initial sentence of 50 years in prison was halved after the judges cited his confession and cooperation.

Namphol, father of Phichai, said he forgave Prasert and was happy with the verdict. The defendant was also fined Bt100 for carrying a murder weapon.

On January 11, Prasert knifed Phichai and slashed his throat in an MRTA office before severing his penis and writing a heart on his chest with his blood.

He turned himself in to police five days later.
