It is huge, grand and in the middle of nowhere. That's the first impression one
gets when viewing Four Wings Residences on Srinakarin Road, near the Bang Kapi intersection.
On closer examination, this location will prove more sensible than living in congested areas such as Sukhumvit, where non-stop traffic congestion and foul air are shortening the lives of residents by the day.
To be sure, the same comments must have greeted Floraville condominium, the first high rise on Srinakarin Road near the Pattanakarn intersection when it came on the market 17 years ago.
A decade after it opened its doors, Floraville was able to command almost the same pricing as central Bangkok. It also started selling membership to its sports club at a massive premium.
Four Wings may well prove to be a spectacular success later on after it opens next year.
Already its 28-floor hotel and 26-storey condominium at the back of the estate are almost completed. It rises like a pyramid in the desert, majestic and commanding, certainly a bold piece of architecture that is conceived by unusual minds.
A one-bedroom unit covering 65 square metres is going for Bt3 million. Its two-bedroom units cover 89 square metres. The condos come unfurnished, but the current promotion will throw in air-conditioners and a kitchen set for buyers.
There are show units at the sales office on the ground floor, manned by Harrision, an organised and professional agency.
The developer, Construction Sahaphand, is the same owner and operator as for the Four Wings Hotel on Sukhumvit. Its Srinakarin property will also aim to be a five-star hotel.
The condominium and hotel will have their own sports facilities such as swimming pool and clubhouse, but the properties will share much of the overall infrastructure such as roadwork, entrances and exits.
The hotel will also add value to the apartments, offering quality restaurant outlets and other services.
Because of its exclusivity, buyers will probably be low-profile executives who prize privacy and peace of mind, far from the hustle and bustle of a chaotic metropolis with all its squalor, overcrowding and noise.
It is also a fair distance away from the less desirable stretches of Srinakarin at Pattanakarn, Onnuj, Seascon Square, Siri Centre and Udomsuk, which are constantly blocked by vehicles, even with oil prices at US$81 (Bt2,775) a barrel.
