Clinic physician Siriluk Suwannaboon yesterday said the services had been popular abroad for decades and were now booming in Thailand, due to the growth of the tourism industry.
She said the services had been offered since April, adding that the hospital's partner, BNH Hospital, was also offering the same facilities. Bangkok Hospital has opened the first branch on Bangkok's Khao San Road, focusing on foreign tourists.
The clinic offers protection against diseases in four regions: Southeast Asia, the Middle East, southern Africa and South America. "We are aiming at locals who are going to work, study or travel abroad for short and medium-term stays. We are also focusing on international tourists who are travelling in the region," said Siriluk.
The clinic expects to serve 100 customers per day from all branches.
The service costs start at Bt600 for a single consultation, excluding medicines, and up to Bt8,000 for a full package. The hospital is negotiating with many insurance companies to draw more customers.
Siriluk said Bangkok Hospital had another medical department called Aviation Medicine on trial, which is set to launch by the end of the year.
The hospital also plans to open two clinics - Wilderness Medicine and Diving Medicine Clinic - in the future.
