Low-cost airlines still have bright outlook

Low-cost airlines still hold the bright outlook, despite the crash of One-Two-Go Flight OG029 on Sunday, due mainly to the growing demand for travelling in all regions of the world, said Kasikorn Research Centre.

"Due to the trend of growing air traffic demand in Thailand and Asia Pacific, this accident in Phuket would not halt the long-term prospect of airlines, including low-cost ones.

However, though cheap prices are the major selling point of low-cost airlines, consumers would pay more attention to safety issues. This would force the airlines to work harder to provide cheap but international standard services," the research centre said.
