The capital's swimming team ruled the pool, winning four gold out of six on offer on the day.

However, Bangkok missed out on what seemed a certain gold medal after Pailin Taechakritteelanan, the national star, lost out in a duel with Nadnapha Muenwai, who went on to break her own Games' record by clocking in 1.02.53 minute in the women's 100m butterfly.

The Bangkok contingent also grabbed one gold apiece in the taekwondo and judo competitions.

Chanatha Thanaruekchai proved too much for Songkhla's Poomsak Boonsanong as the Bangkokian exponent effortlessly sealed a 9-2 victory in the men's featherweight division, while judo fighter Siam Thanaporn out-fought Manavit Somboon of Suphan Buri in the men's half lightweight division.

Chon Buri catapulted into the second spot with a blistering five-gold haul.

Jidarat Pornbanjerdkul set the tone by winning the women's cross country cycling.

The Chon Buri team followed that up with two gold medals from judo through Onareeya Konngen and Saravudh Petchsingh in the respective women's and men's extra lightweight events and one apiece from swimming via Nadnapha and sepak takraw. A total of 38 gold medals are up for grabs today.
