SEC waives rating requirement for special institutions

The Securities and Exchange Commission on Monday approved to waive rating requirement for debt instruments to be sold to public that issued by institutions subjected to special law. But the issuers need to report information of debt instrument issuance to investors.

In addition, the SEC also allowed asset management companies and securities companies to set up representative entities in overseas as the agents to trade unit trusts in overseas markets. However, the representatives must be financial institutions or corporations that can sell or or buy unit trusts regarding relevant countries. The approval is for representatives to do the trading only in overseas not in Thai market. - The Nation
