Rice contract

Chaiyaporn Rice has won the bidding for 558,598 tonnes of 5-per-cent rice, at an average price of Bt8,700 to Bt8,910 a tonne, the Commerce Ministry said yesterday.

A total of 45,103 tonnes for domestic sale and 513,495 tonnes for export were on auction.

External Trade Department director-general Apiradi Tantraporn said there were four bidders for the domestic lot, with the bids ranging from Bt7,510 to Bt8,800 a tonne. There were six bidders for the export lot, with bids ranging from Bt7,500 to Bt8,910.
