New biogas engine for mill
Natural Palm Oil in the South has installed a third Jenbacher biogas engine at its mills, using biogas created from the anaerobic digestion of palm-oil waste material.
The engines are made by GE Energy.
The project ties in with the Kingdom's efforts to increase renewable-energy production from one per cent of the nation's total electricity supply now to 8 per cent by 2011. This support includes specific feed-in tariffs to make biogas applications more economically feasible for developers, making the return on investments more predictable and thus making it easier to calculate additional income from the plants.
