Permanent secretary Charan Phakdithanakul said Pornthip's second reimbursement was a result of "erroneous documentation" by the ministry's civil servants.
A source said the noguilty verdict will clear the way for Pornthip to become the CIFS director pending a Cabinet approval.
Pornthip said she had always believed in the ministry's transparent process throughout the three-year period.
"My case is a good example of the abuse of power endured by civil servants," she added.
The forensic expert said she was expecting compensation from the ministry, including the reinstatement to the director's position and retroactive pay for her salary that was withheld during the investigation.
