Inspired by the 1954 Marlon Brando film "On the Waterfront", the designer has created a dark and edgy "film-noir" feel with this collection, which resurrects the biker spirit through music and the emblematic Harley Davidson.
With more than 170 years of creativity and craftsmanship behind it, the French label has chosen a dignified and elegant look to bring out the masculine side of women. Items not to be missed are the biker blouson jackets and riding pants. There are also aviator blousons, silk-satin tuxedos, cashmere-tweed suits, pea coats, jackets with coat-tails and Spencer jackets. In addition, ultra-long dresses and trench coats offer effortless chic.
The dominant colours are black, grey, charcoal, bronze, cypress, brown, dark, green, vicuna, rust and purplish red.
Materials are matched to different weather conditions, and Gaultier contrasts fabrics for extra piquancy - crocodile and silk muslin, shorn mink and silk-satin, cashmere and patina calfskin. Other ingredients include deerskin suede, double-faced cashmere, wool and cashmere tweed, gabardine, alpaca and silk jacquard, and silk.
Outstanding accessories that struck the eye on the runway were the Kelly line's muffs, caps, leather gloves, belts and boots.
