If you're crazy and don't want

Responsible voters keep tabs on politics, especially when there's an election coming up, but no one can deny that it's not so easy these days.

That last coup ended up wiping out so many of the old parties that we're now faced with a whole slew of new ones to sift through. The deal-makers spent months in the damp darkness and they've grown a massive crop of mushrooms, all with funny names. Thanks goodness there are still some hoary old goats like Samak Sundaravej lurking around - now there's a name we can hang our hat on.

But the People's Power Party, for example - the Palang Prachachon - is quite a mouthful, so Soopsip has had to fall back on the old abbreviation trick. It's the PPP. Like Marks & Spencer is M'n'S, right?

Nevertheless, that's not the end of it. You also have to remember which person belongs to which party, and as Election Day nears, a lot of these people will be shuffling around in search of the best place to maximise their altruistic potential and/or their bank accounts.

In an effort to find out the current lay of the political landscape, Soopsip consulted The Nation's political desk. She was fast asleep under a copy of the latest Harry Potter book, but on being violently shaken awake she seemed sincere in advising us to sit back and relax until the very last minute. Only then will we know for sure which square pegs have been pounded into which round holes.
