A police shoots himself possibly out of stress

A non-commissioned police officer at the Phaholyothin station in northern Bangkok shot himself on Friday, possibly due to chronic stress.



Pol Sr Sgt Maj Phissanu Nilthap, 40, left no suicide note and had not complained about his work or life problems beforehand.

His wife said the Phissanu asked for a sleeping pill at around 3am, before shooting himself in right temple with his government issue pistol at 5am.

Station chief Pol Colonel said Phissanu had experienced chronic stress and had been taking medication for many years.

He said Phissanu was wellliked by colleagues and had not been acting abnormally before he killed himself.
