Three forensic police rushed to the scene of an explosion that occurred at about 7.20am on a road in the district. A device went off while they were inspecting the location and collecting debris.

Pol Senior Sergeant-Major Niran Khunprab was seriously hurt and died shortly after being taken to hospital. The two survivors were Pol Sergeant-Major Anusorn Jaengjai and Pol Sergeant Somphet Thammasorn.

In Narathiwat's Sukhirin district, a rubber-tapper was working on a plantation when a bomb went off at about 8am.
