At 7.30am, Expressway 1 police officers rushed to find the body of Wirat Kiratiworanant, the manager of Greater Intertrade Co, inside a Mitsubishi car in the middle lane at Km10 on the expressway heading towards Rama 9.

Officers broke the car's rear window to reach him.

A police investigation found that Wirat had suffered a seizure while the car was in bumper-to-bumper traffic. Other people tried to help him but the car's four doors were locked.

An initial autopsy found that Wirat died from a stroke.
