Lescott called up to replace injured Campbell

London - Everton defender Joleon Lescott was called into the England squad Monday to replace Portsmouth's Sol Campbell, who has withdrawn with a hamstring injury.

England face Israel on Saturday and Russia the following Wednesday in two games that will be crucial to their hopes of qualifying for the final stages of Euro 2008.

Lescott has been in fine form for Everton this season, and scored his second of the campaign in the 2-1 win over Bolton Saturday.
