Hosts finish sixth overall

Thai athletes swept 63 medals, including 17 gold, to finish sixth overall in the World Transplant Games, which concluded at the Thai-Japan Youth Welfare Centre yesterday.

On the final day of the August 26-September 1 games, the hosts took two silvers and one bronze. Nirun Uisua finished second in 26.20 seconds in the 200 metres in the men's 30-39 category, while Pramote Ladsuwan also claimed silver in the same event in the men's 50-59 division.

Earlier, Chan Kaewjino was third (51.75 sec) in the men's 800 metres of the 50-59 class. The United Kingdom emerged overall champions with a haul of 100 gold, 75 silver and 52 bronze medals. Australia were second (30-30-27). The US (27-31-23), the Netherlands (25-23-27) and Hungary (20-15-17) came third, fourth and fifth respectively.  - The Nation
