Ayutthaya's long-boat races

International boat racing will take place on the Chao Phya at Ayutthaya's Bang Sai Arts and Crafts Centre next weekend (September 8 and 9). This annual long-boat regatta attracts teams from Asia, America and Europe, all competing to be named "The Best of Siam". With the competition celebrating His Majesty the King's 80th birthday along with 120 years of Thai-Japanese relations, there should be even more splendour and pageantry than usual this year. Expect cheerleaders and razzmatazz, neck-and-neck racing and fantastic cultural showcases.
