
"He (Young) has done well for the Under-21s and he has carried that into the beginning of the season," McClaren said.
"It is an ideal opportunity to bring in one of the Under-21s, which I'm keen to do. It is good to blood these youngsters."
Bentley missed out on the squad that lost to Germany in a friendly last week as punishment for his late withdrawal from the England Under-21 squad for the European Championship this summer.
"He accepted that and he paid the consequences but this is a new squad and he is in it and deserves to be in it."
David Beckham missed out with a knee injury. "It is a big blow for us," McClaren said.
"He is a big player and we are coming up to big games and we need big players for big games."
