The one sector that's not happy about a December 23 election is the diplomatic community. The embassies' political and information staff will have to record, assess and report the poll results to their home countries, and then most of them will be in a race to fly back and rejoin their families for Christmas.
If you listen carefully, you can almost hear the gentle prayers of the embassy crowd for the junta to postpone the vote. Almost.
