The Supreme Administrative Court Wednesday upheld a lower verdict empowering an injunction order protecting former police chief Kowit Watana from being removed from his post and given a civilian post in April.

Amphol Singhakowin, the chief of a judges' quorum, said an order given by Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont on April 20 appointing Kowit as an advisor on internal security attached to the PM's Office was not lawful, as he gave the order before securing a Cabinet approval to endorse it.

Ruling out Surayud's dispute in his appeal after the Central Administration Court ruled in favour of Kowit in June, the judges said his lawyer did not verify that how adversely it would affect the country if the injunction order was revoked.
