One step closer on Purple Line

Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand Governor Prapat Chongsanguan said on August 23, officials from the Japan Bank for International Cooperation will finalise details on the funding of the Purple electric train route.

"Then, they will present all information collected to the Japanese government who will consider if JBIC will finance the Purple Line of which construction cost is Bt40 billion," Prapat said.

He noted that Thailand's Finance Ministry will decide how much it would need from JBIC for the construction.

He also insisted that JBIC is not concerned about domestic political changes as reported, as it realises that the Constitution referendum or the election are merely short-term political changes.

Prapat said that when the funding issue is clear, the Purple Line cbid could be kicked off in October and the construction works should start in early 2008.
