The regulations have been in effect since August 9, 2007, said Apiradee Tantraporn, director-general of the department.
"We issued the regulations to increase the efficiency in maintaining the quality of canned pineapple. They must be manufactured by licensed manufacturers or those which have received manufacturing orders," she said.
Exporters who do not have manufacturing plants must earn a certificate or document that certifies that their exported products are produced by licensed manufacturers, she said.
During January-May this year, Thailand exported 293,233 tonnes of canned pineapple, at the combined value of Bt5.42 billion. Year on year, the volume and value dropped 3.21 per cent and 5.62 per cent, respectively.
