Lawmakers are scheduled on Wednesday to start deliberating three organic laws relating to the general election, Meechai said. The deliberations will be completed within 45 days, counting from August 19, the date of the referendum.
"Lawmakers actually have to conclude the legislative debate in 30 working days in order to meet the deadline," he said.
The election is expected to take place within 90 days following the enactment of the three organic laws. Electoral preparations have to comply with a timetable prescribed by the 2006 Interim Constitution and authorities can opt to set the election day in advance if deemed necessary, he said.
