More than 180 brands of world class watches from this year's BaselWorld have now arrived in Thailand to dazzle shoppers at Bangkok World Watch & Jewellery 2007, which runs at Siam Paragon through August 26.
The fascinating timepieces were highlighted at the opening party, a glittering affair that had celebs and socialites dressing up as movie icons for a fashion show under the theme "Hollywood Glamorous".
Wongchanok Cheevasiri from "Hairspray" looking stunning on stage in a black evening gown accessorised with jewels valued at more than Bt20 million from the Beauty Gems collection.
Darunee Kritboonyalai, who came as Marilyn Monroe, modelled the Bt6 million Glashutte Lady Serenade Tourbillon model and drew loud applause for her sassy dancing style.
ML Rungkun Kitiyakara teamed up with Dusita Chumsri and Polphat Asavaprapha for "Pirates of the Caribbean", while Chamanun Wanwinwasara and Karuna Vatchanaphukka looked distinctly dangerous as "Mr & Mrs Smith".
Karoon Sorsodthikul and Sasivimol Na Ranong posed as the star-crossed lovers from "Romeo & Juliet", Ploypan Patrathiranond brought along her pooch for "Legally Blonde" and Sunansa Jiramaneekul sparkled like royalty in "The Princess Diaries".
Vachini Krairiksh went back to gangster days with her character from "Chicago" while Jittima Wattanasin stuck to a more contemporary script with "Sex and the City". Holly Amranand reincarnated "Breakfast at Tiffany's", Chatchai Ujjin chose "The Matrix", Pephat and Sorat Amatayakul "The Mask of Zorro", Chettha and Yupin Songthaveepol doubled up for "James Bond", Sasanee Vongsurakrai, "The Devil Wears Prada," Chollada Mekratree and Michael Piroon "X-Men", and Sittichok Plengpanich opted for "Ocean 13." Each presented the top timepieces in five categories - masterpiece, complication, luxury, fashion and technical sports watch.
For the finale, beautiful babes Lila "Ploy" Boonyasak shone with Jacob & Co's Rainbow Tourbillon Full Diamond while Praiya "Poo" Suandokmai blossomed with Chopard's Haute Joallerie model.
Miss Thailand World 2007 Kanokkorn Jaicheurn showcased the piece de resistance - Harry Winston's Duchesse, valued at a cool Bt46 million.
Siam Paragon watch specialists Chayasak Piyamawadee, Nathasedh Poonsapmanee, Surachet Worawongwasu, Vitida Trangadisaikul and Piyajit Osatananda were on hand to offer advice.
