Reading: "Early Landscapes of Myanmar" by Elizabeth Moore
Elizabeth Moore is an archaeology lecturer
at the University of London and her "Early
Landscapes of Myanmar" presents up-to-
date descriptions of major Burmese
archaeological sites. The author has done a
lot of fieldwork over the past decade, and
the result is an authoritative book that
highlights new archaeological data, much
of which has never been published before.
I'm particularly impressed by the amount of
effort that Moore has put into compiling
new archaeological findings. It's important
to realise that research about Burmese sites
has been under-reported over the past
years, so it's a delight to see many ancient
structures covered in this single volume,
something you can't find elsewhere. I also
liked the fact that the author doesn't focus
too much on the theoretical, which is why
it's so readable and accessible. I've learned a lot from this book."
