Highlights of the week: Charter vote

Voters decide this Sunday to accept or reject the draft 2007 constitution. They have these choices only; abstentions are not provided for.

There is no required turnout for the ballot.

PM's march

Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont and his Cabinet today walk from the Royal Plaza to Democracy Monument.

The "Power of Democracy" march is intended to raise awareness of Sunday's referendum.

The Constitution Drafting Committee meets tomorrow and on Wednesday to consider three organic laws for the draft constitution - the Election Commission Act, the Election Act and the Political Party Act.

Bangkok 50 move

The "Bangkok 50" group will introduce its members and policies at a news conference on Wednesday.

The group includes former Thai Rak Thai executive member Suranand Vejjajiva, and Kulthon Prachuabmoh.

Surrender plan

The police colonel implicated in the alleged attempted bribery of Constitution Tribunal judges hearing recent electoral-fraud allegations against political parties will surrender today.

An arrest warrant for Charnchai Netirattakarn was issued this past Wednesday, although the suspect contacted police and explained he was detained.
