The Thai men, who suffered a 96-43 defeat to Canada on Tuesday, failed to secure the tickets to the second round after going down to New Zealand's squad 108-73 in an absorbing match at Thammasart University's Gymnasium 1.
"Our players are so young, but they are improving. They played really well today. We are really happy, though they couldn't win the game," said Soontornpong Mawintorn, assistant coach.
Thai women also failed to regain their stunning form in the game against South Korea on Tuesday, falling to Turkey's team 63-56 at the Nimibut Stadium.
