PM notified of Bannavit's inappropriate actions

Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont on Monday admitted that Transport Ministry has submitted him a petition over National Legislative Assembly member Bannavit Kengrien's inappropriate actions.

He said the PM's secretariat informed NLA speaker of the matter, saying that legislative and administrative powers should not be overlapped.

He said Deputy Transport Minister Sansern Wongcha-um did not mention any specific intervention of Bannavit in state agencies under the ministry's supervision.

"The intervention is inappropriate," he said.

Last week, Sansern told reporters that Bannavit largely intervened in the operations of the State Railway of Thailand, such as calling for a meeting of the SRT board of directors.

Bannavit is chairman of the NLA committee on transport. He does not serve in the SRT board.
