More waste power targeted

Energy Ministry expects to generate 100 megawatts from 10,000 tonnes of wastes within 2011, through the cooperation with power generators, the Federation of Thai Industries and provincial chambers of commerce.

Energy Minister Piyasvasti Amranand said at the seminar on "energy generating from community wastes" on Monday, that the ministry will promote opinion exchanges to promote community power generating from wastes.

At present, there are 3 such power plants in Phuket, Rayong and Samut Prakan.
