Danieli Far East is an affiliate of Italy's Danieli & C Officine Meccaniche, one of the top three steel suppliers in the world with ¤2 billion (Bt92 billion) in revenues and 6,000 employees worldwide.
President Ferdinando Tedesco said the Rayong facilities employed 1,200 people, while 800 more job opportunities will be created by the end of the year as the company further expands its operations.
Sanitaryware: Thanh Tri exports to Thailand
Thanh Tri Viglacera Sanitary Wares, a member of Glass and Construction Ceramics Corp, on July 31 exported the first four containers of products to Thailand worth nearly one billion dong (Bt1.9 million), the Nhan Dan newspaper reported last week.
The expansion of export markets to regional countries, especially Asean member countries, has been a new orientation for the company, along with maintaining traditional markets such as Russia, Ukraine, Italy, Belgium and Taiwan.
Viglacera Thanh Tri is expected to earn some US$2 million (Bt68 million) from exports this year, accounting for 30 per cent of the company's revenue and up 10 per cent against the same period last year.
Tai paraxylene:Firm uses new Olgone process
ExxonMobil Chemical Technology Licensing and Thai Paraxylene said they had successfully started up the first licensed application in Thailand of ExxonMobil's new Olgone technology last week.
The Olgone process implemented at Thai Paraxylene's Sri Racha petrochemical complex removes olefinic contaminants from a heavy reformate feed, replacing a traditional clay treatment process. The mixed xylenes separated from the treated heavy reformate are converted to paraxylene as the final product.
Duangporn Teerapabpaisit, Thai Paraxylene's manufacturing manager, said the company had selected the Olgone technology because it lengthens reformate treater cycles and reduces overall costs.
Kota baharu: Kelantan bridge to Kingdom
The Bukit Bunga bridge in Tanah Merah, which will provide a new route to Thailand, is among the new projects to be built by the federal government in Kelantan under the Ninth Malaysia Plan, the Bernama official news agency reported last week.
Works Minister S Samy Vellu said the new route across the Malaysia-Thai border would be built with part of the 579.1-million ringgit (Bt5.6 billion) allocation for Kelantan under the plan.
Aviation: Etihad to start Brisbane service
Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, which operates twice-daily flights from Bangkok to Abu Dhabi and onwards to 45 destinations around the globe, received a warm welcome from the government of Queensland during the Abu Dhabi-based airline's first visit to Brisbane.
Etihad will start its three flights-a-week service from Abu Dhabi to Brisbane on September 28.
