Chronology of Wisut's wife murder

Following is the chronology of the murder of Dr Phassaporn, the wife of Dr Wisut Boonkasemsanti. The Supreme Court upheld his death sentence today.



May to August 1999. Dr Wisut Boonkasemsanti and his wife, Dr Phassaporn, separate. Wisut moves to live in the Withayaniwet building of Chulalongkorn Hospital. Every morning, Wisut picks up the couple's children from the house where Phassaporn lives to drop them at school.

Phassaporn picks them up from school. Wisut files for a divorce, but Phassaporn does not agree. The court asks them to attempt reconciliation.

November 1999. The couple engages in a violent argument fuelled by jealousy. Wisut starts to strangle Phassaporn, but stops when their daughter enters the room. Phassaporn tells her sister Piangchai that if she dies, Wisut will have been responsible.

11.30am, February 20, 2001. Wisut makes an appointment to dine with his wife at Oishi restaurant, in Siam Discovery Centre, Bangkok.

February 21, 2001. Wisut hires clerk Angkana Pungya to type a letter to the director of Burachatchaiyakorn Hospital where Phassaporn works,applying for leave to visit Chanthaburi for meditation until February 26. Similar letters were sent to their son and daughter. Wisut forges his wife's signature on all three documents.

March 23, 2001. Wisut surrenders to face charges of illegal detention. Police search apartment 318 of Withayaniwet Building and find bloodstains on the curtains and 3.3kg of human body tissue in the septic tank.

March 24, 2001. Wisut surrenders to police to face charges of premeditated murder.

March 26, 2001. Police discover body tissue in the septic tank of the Central Sofitel Hotel. The remains were later shown to match Phassaporn's DNA.

May 9, 2001. The prosecution at Southern Bangkok Criminal Court 4 drops charges against Wisut and he is released.

June 5, 2001. Phassaporn's father, Chot Wattanachet, files a suit against Wisut, accusing him of premeditated murder, destroying his daughter's body, kidnapping, coercion and using falsified documents.

September 23, 2002. The Attorney General's office announces its decision to accept suits against Wisut.

October 28, 2002. Southern Bangkok Criminal Court brings charges against Wisut.

November 10, 2003. The Southern Bangkok Criminal Court sentences Wisut to death.

July 4, 2005. The Appeals Court upheld the lower court's ruling.

July 25, 2007. The Supreme Court upheled the lower courts' ruling.
