Meanwhile, Thailand also posted a near 18 per cent growth rate for the export during the first six months of this year.
"The strong baht has little effect on Thai export competitiveness," Krirk-krai said. However, he admitted that Thai business operators are facing a growing number of competitors in some sectors, and their competitiveness could be affected if the baht keeps appreciating against the US dollar.
"The Commerce Ministry is in charge of medium- and long-term policies while the Finance Ministry will take care of short-term measures," he noted.
Details of the value of June's exports and other trade data will be announced later this week, Krirk-krai told reporters.
